Scott C DeRoo, MD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon, a member of the multidisciplinary Thoracic Aortic Program, and an Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery.. Dr. DeRoo specializes in the treatment of complex thoracic aortic disease including aortic aneurysms and problems with the aortic valve. Dr. DeRoo completed his cardiothoracic surgery training at Columbia University in New York city. He also completed a post-graduate fellowship in advanced open and endovascular aortic surgical training at the University of Pennsylvania under the mentorship of Dr. Joseph Bavaria. During this time, he became proficient in both open and endovascular aortic surgery with a particular focus on aortic valve repair, complex aortic arch surgery, thoracic aortic endografts, and reoperative aortic surgery.

Dr. DeRoo is committed to ensuring the highest standard of care for his patients. He strives to advocate for his patients during their care at UW and beyond, and feels that the best care is achieved when both patient and physician are informed and active members of the decision-making process. In order to support the care of patients with complex aortic disease he is a member of the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Aortic Program “MTAP” team. The team of both Cardiac and Vascular surgeons as well as Genetics researchers collaborate to provide the best care possible.
