Bio:

I’m a native Texan, and made my way to Seattle for residency. During medical school I participated in the global health track, and also got my MPH in Global Health and Population studies. I chose UW because of the fantastic burn and trauma/critical care programs as well as support for global health/global surgery. I spent my two research years as an NIH/Fogarty Global Health Research Fellow working with partners in Nepal and Ghana, focused on global burn injury prevention, management and control.

Personal Interests:

Cooking/exploring new restaurants, gardening, spirituality, spending time with friends and family

Clinical Interests:

Burn/reconstructive surgery, global burn/Injury prevention, health systems strengthening

Professional Activities:

NIH Fogarty Fellow
RAS-ACS Global Surgery Working Group, Executive Leadership
UW Resident Women’s Council, Co-Chair
UW PROGRESS, Resident Lead

Why UW?

UW stood out as a program with excellent opportunities for clinical training across diverse settings. My passion and career goals are in global public health and global surgery, and I found UW to have a long track-record of supporting those interests, but also flexibility to explore and build new partnerships and ideas according to my own interests. My clinical interests are in burns and trauma, and this is one of the top burn/trauma programs in the country – I’ve been really fortunate for the opportunities to combine all of my interests here at UW.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

Try to connect with the humanity in each person you interact with throughout your day – patients, patient families, staff, your colleagues. It makes life better for everyone.

What do you like best about living in Seattle?

The natural beauty – I think it is one of the most beautiful places in the world! But what makes Seattle home are these my lovely residency friends who have become family.
