Kate Stadeli, MD
I chose UW for many reasons, but the most important to me was my co-residents. At my interview day I got the impression that residents here were like family, and that has proved true over the last 6+ years. I also wanted to come here for the exceptional trauma training, a county hospital with a mission specifically to serve the underserved, interests in global surgery, and a track record of matching residents into competitive specialties year after year. Also, the Pacific Northwest is beautiful – there is nowhere like it. You can get beautiful mountain, lake, and Puget Sound views all within the city.
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
Work hard, take care of your patients and your co-residents, and remember to set aside some time for yourself and your family.
What do you like best about living in Seattle?
Both water and mountains are within easy reach, plus there is amazing food and wine everywhere. There is wine tasting within the city and also hundreds of local wine tasting studios in Woodinville (30 minutes away). Also, Oregon Pinot Noir is the best in the world and only a few hours away.
