Department of Surgery Training Programs

As one of the premier surgical training programs in the country, the University of Washington Department of Surgery fosters trainees along their path to independent surgical practice. Residents engage with local, national, and international surgical leaders as they master clinical and technical skills in their respective fields. Faculty, fellows, and residents in our department participate in a wide variety of research across ten major focus areas: gastrointestinal physiology and metabolism; transplantation; injury, burn, and inflammation; cancer; reperfusion; simulation and education; vascular biology; pharmaceutical and device trials; and health services.
