Department of Surgery – American College of Surgeons Washington/Oregon Chapters Annual Meeting

We had an incredible meeting of the Washington/Oregon Chapters of the American College of Surgeons this past weekend at Campbell’s Resort in Chelan. Dr. Judy Chen led a great meeting from the presentations to the social functions and the invited speakers. Congratulations to Dr. Chen for her leadership of our state chapter and for a successful meeting. The Department of Surgery had a strong presence at the meeting, and I was impressed with our residents, fellows, and students presenting their work, and equally impressed and grateful for the incredible mentors that supported our trainees in their projects. Dr. Jamie Olapo was a top winner in the podium presentations, but you can see our other Awards of Distinction and Student Award for our residents and medical students. There was also a special session led by Dr. Giana Davidson on how to design a career with purpose and passion. For those of you who were not able to be there, I have listed all of the papers presented by UW below so you can appreciate the breadth of what we do, and so you can congratulate both the presenters and their mentors on the work they are doing. I could not be more proud of our faculty, residents, and fellows when I see the positive impact you are all making. Our world feels pretty tough right now but I think we can be optimistic when we see the intelligence, integrity, and creativity of our people and their influence on the world.
