UW Cardiothoracic Surgery programs include myocardial revascularization, valve repair and replacement, thoracic aortic surgery, electrophysiology surgery, adult and pediatric congenital heart surgery, heart and lung transplantation (including assist devices), and all forms of adult thoracic surgery including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, lung and esophageal cancer surgery, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy, lung volume reduction surgery for emphysema, and surgery and interventional bronchoscopy for the full spectrum of tracheobronchial pathology.

General Surgery
The general surgery team offers a range of evaluation and surgical treatment services. Our experienced, highly qualified physicians and staff treat patients as unique individuals, each with his or her own health needs and life goals. Evaluation and surgical treatment for Breast cancer, colorectal cancers, diverticulitis and inflammatory diseases, prolapse & incontinence, renal cell carcinoma, cancer of the spleen, inguinal and abdominal hernias, intestinal cancer, peptic ulcer disease.

Plastic Surgery
The Division of Plastic Surgery focuses on patient care, teaching, and research. Our faculty members, residents, fellows, and visiting scientists provide services through the UW’s four affiliated hospitals: University Hospital Medical Center (UWMC); Harborview Medical Center (HMC); Children’s Hospital & Medical Center (CHMC); and the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS). Patient care, teaching, and research activities focus on burns, hand surgery, microsurgery, craniofacial surgery, breast reconstruction, and all aspects of reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery.

Transplant Surgery
Transplant Services at UWMC is a product of clinical, academic and research activities and expertise of the divisions of Transplantation and Cardiothoracic Surgery at the UW School of Medicine.
Trauma Center & Burn Center
Our trauma and burn surgeons practice primarily at the Harborview Medical Center. HMC is the only Level I adult and pediatric trauma and burn center in Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. In 2009, our Emergency Department managed more than 80,000 visits; 5,647 involved patients with major injuries and hospitalization.
Vascular Surgery
The vascular surgery team provides diagnosis, treatment and follow-up for a broad range of blood vessel or circulatory problems, including arterial, venous, and lymphatic diseases.
