Bio:

I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and became interested in health disparities in high school. I left to study Biomedical Engineering at Yale and worked developing medical devices for low resource hospitals. I returned to the West Coast for Medical School at Stanford, before returning “home” (or as close as I could get!) for surgical residency. I’m so excited to continue to grow in my passions for global and rural health.

Personal Interests:

Hiking, travel, cooking, baking, tea, and all things yarn.

Why UW?

UW has an incredible breadth within its training, with a diversity of training experiences including academic, county, VA, pediatric, and level 1 trauma center. UW’s mission to the five state region gives me the unique opportunity to serve patients from my home state during training.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

When in doubt, take a deep breath, you know more than you think you do, and you have an incredible team of residents, attendings, and nursing staff to back you up when you need it. Get to know your co-interns, they know what you’re going through like no one else. Take time to reflect on how much you’re growing and learning.

What do you like best about living in Seattle?

Seattle has an abundance of what makes the Pacific Northwest special – beautiful, accessible outdoor spaces, coffee shops and bookstores on nearly every corner, and vibrant arts and cultural spaces.
