University of Edinburgh

Graduate School:

University of Oxford

Medical School:

University of Glasgow

Bio:

Born in Singapore, I traded flip-flops for wellies to study Medical Sciences in Edinburgh, then dove into immune cells at Oxford (where I caught the medicine bug from some brilliant physician-scientists). Glasgow was next, where I fell for surgery and braved the northern chill. Love brought me to Chicago, where I swapped kilts for lab coats during a postdoc at Northwestern. Two years as a General Surgery prelim resident later, I landed at the University of Washington—finally warm, caffeinated, and in the OR where I belong. Still surgically curious, occasionally jet-lagged, and always up for a good challenge.

Personal Interests:

Lifting, canoeing, rowing, triathlon, new tech, ramen, Pho, Chelsea FC, Seattle Seahawks, Boston Celtics, Red Sox

Clinical Interests:

Transplant, Trauma, Immunology

Why UW?

The outdoors, high volume with breadth and depth of patient exposure, Seattle Seahawks

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

Remember to breath, eat and drink; have interests outside work (and I don’t mean reading academic papers in your spare time), like the Seahawks.
