Dr. Davidson’s research focuses on pragmatic clinical trials to better understand how we can improve patient-centered health outcomes especially for those who are at higher risk for poor outcomes and/or access in our healthcare system (e.g., those that do not speak English, are not white, unhoused, or have low health literacy). Dr. Davidson is the Director of the Clinical Coordinating Center for two Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) pragmatic clinical trials in emergency general surgery. The Comparing Outcomes of Drugs and Appendectomy (CODA) trial is a large scale national non-inferiority trial which recently completed recruitment of 1552 participants with appendicitis. The Comparison of Surgery and Medicine on the Impact of Diverticulitis (COSMID) Trial (COSMID) is a pragmatic, patient-level randomized superiority trial of elective colectomy vs. medical management for patients with quality of life-limiting diverticular disease. She is the principal investigator of a AHRQ R01 funded cluster, pragmatic, randomized trial focused on interventions to improve care transitions from hospitals to skilled nursing facilities.
Dr. Davidson serves on the Board of Directors for The Aurora Commons, a Seattle area nonprofit focused on harm reduction interventions and re-envisioning health care delivery for the unhoused community in King County.
