Bio:

I was born and raised across the lake from the University of Washington in Kirkland. As the daughter of a former Husky football player, I have been an avid Husky sports fan since I was young and was ecstatic about the opportunity to return home for medical school. Prior to starting my medical training, I played volleyball at Portland State University where I earned my Bachelor’s degree at the joint PSU-Oregon Health and Sciences University School of Public Health. I quickly fell in love with surgery as an undergraduate student completing research on head and neck cancers at the Franz Cancer Institute at Providence in Portland and, by the conclusion of medical school, knew that General Surgery would be the perfect fit!

Personal Interests:

Spending time with family, especially my adorable nephews and niece! I love traveling, wine tasting, interior design, and all things fitness; Weightlifting, cycling, pilates, walking.

Clinical Interests:

Breast Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Pediatrics, Trauma

Professional Activities:

Association of Women Surgeons, UW and National Chapters
American College of Surgeons, WA/OR Regional and National Chapters

Why UW?

I chose UW because of the breadth and depth of experiences that this program offers in virtually every aspect of General Surgery. From complex surgical oncology at UW Montlake to our trauma and critical care experience at Harborview and our community-based practice at Northwest, I knew that this program would offer an incredibly well-rounded, comprehensive training experience. UW’s collaborative partnership with the Fred Hutch Cancer Center is also a tremendous strength for us as trainees. Most importantly, I chose UW because of our community. Our faculty are world-renowned, welcoming and kind; Having their mentorship as a medical student forever changed my career in the best ways possible. I knew that this was the kind of the support and leadership that would allow me to thrive in residency.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

Check back in a year!

What do you like best about living in Seattle?

The Pacific Northwest is stunning. I love being able to live in the city and have quick access to nature; Paddle-boarding on Lake Union after work, boating on Puget Sound within 45 minutes, etc. It is a very liveable city with beautiful neighborhoods, great restaurants, and fantastic shopping!
