Houston, TX, USA
Undergraduate School:

Bio:
I was born and raised in Texas, where farm vets offered my first real exposure to medicine. I developed a love for biology in high school, and deepened my interests in (now human) medicine at Texas A&M. Time in a neurotrauma research lab as an undergraduate opened my eyes to translational research and gave me an interest in immunology. I returned home to Houston for medical school, where I saw my first surgery and was hooked. My clinical and research interests have evolved into a passion for trauma and critical care and the immunologic response to shock and organ transplantation. Outside of the hospital, I love to read, drink tea, attempt to keep my cat from destroying my couch, and crack a joke or two with friends!
Personal Interests:
I enjoy cooking, journaling, oil pastels, and adding to my growing collection of books to read. On weekends, I like to garden or take a walk (or hike)! I also enjoy standup comedy, true crime TV, and making obscure Spotify playlists.
Clinical Interests:
Trauma/Surgical Critical Care, Emergency General Surgery, Abdominal Organ Transplantation, Immunologic Response to Shock
Professional Activities:
American College of Surgeons
Association of Women Surgeons

Why UW?
UW offers the opportunity to train in a wide variety of clinical contexts, learn from leaders in science and medicine, and serve a unique and incredibly diverse patient population. The natural beauty of Seattle drew me to the city, and UW’s reputation of academic excellence, especially in trauma and critical care, made my decision incredibly easy.
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
A mentor once told me that the key to intern year is simple: show up on time, work hard, and don’t lie. Everything else comes with time.
My mom always told me to “be a sponge” as I left for school. Stay curious about medicine and the world around you, and compassionate about the people you serve!
Remember to have a laugh when things are funny and why you love your job when things are tough.
What do you like best about living in Seattle?
I’m a new Seattle transplant, so I don’t know much yet! In my limited experience, I love the weather, the book stores, and the fact that I can throw a rock anywhere in the city and hit a great coffee shop.
