Bio:

Born & Raised in Atlanta, I made my way to Athens for my bachelors degree in Finance from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs). Always intent on combining my business background with medicine, I then made my way to Augusta for medical school where I was able to put my excel knowledge to use on clinical research projects.
Long story short – I’m past due for a change from hot and humid and looking forward to cool and drizzly!

Personal Interests:

Running – I’ve done around a half dozen half marathon races and applied to six of the seven majors (sadly haven’t lotteried into any yet but fingers crossed for Sydney)
Skiing (for sure asking for ikon pass renewals for birthdays)
Fly fishing (don’t usually wind up with too many bites but love being out in nature)
Hiking (making my way through the National Parks – stoked to explore the PNW)
Tennis, Golf (not particularly great at either but a big fan of watching both on tv)

Clinical Interests:

Minimally Invasive Surgery, Endocrine, Upper-GI, Bariatric
Community/Rural Practice, Global health, QI & cost-efficacy analysis

Why UW?

I chose UW because of the pretty unique opportunity for a 2 year preliminary position. I have a chance to sharpen my skills and strengthen my knowledge base while also having the privilege of taking the time to learn more about where my interest and abilities lie.
Moreover, UW is an institutional research powerhouse and has an unmatched catchment diversity thanks to WWAMI. Also for sure helps that the PNW is perfect for outdoorsy hobbies.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

Don’t sink alone – load up the ship. If you feel like you’re in over your head or out of your depth, don’t be afraid to ask for help.

What do you like best about living in Seattle?

Tons of outdoor activities, great mix of city and family friendly vibes.
Way fewer 70-80% humidity days w/ 90+ temps.
